READING

If you’ve landed here and plan to stick around, you’re probably a bookworm or bibliophile (whichever term you prefer). Maybe you have books spilling from shelves in every room of your house, or an unwieldy wishlist at your favorite retailer, or you visit famous bookstores when you travel and haunt your local library. If you’re me, you do all of the above, wear book-themed necklaces, and write a lot of book reviews for works ranging from popular and YA fiction, presidential biographies to literary fiction, and post them on the internet.

30 Reviews in 2014

One of my personal goals for 2014 is to read and review 30 books, along with reading more and using screen time more thoughtfully. I’ve written plenty of informal book reviews in the past and will probably do some here and some at GoodReads, which I recently joined.

Books About Teaching

As my ongoing personal professional development, I try to read several books a year that will enrich my teaching practice. When I’ve really enjoyed a book and want to recommend it to others, I write up a review and post it, so I can say wholeheartedly that each of the books I’ve reviewed below is worth your time.

  • Fresh Takes on Teaching Literary Elements
  • I Read It But I Don’t Get It
  • Teach Like a Champion
  • Shakespeare Set Free: Macbeth
  • With Rigor for All: Meeting Common Core Standards for Teaching Literature

Review Policies:

I accept books for review; please contact me through thejasonbrody007 (at) gmail (dot) com for more information. My reviews are always based on my honest and considered opinion, regardless of how I acquire the book. Post, where I have not purchased the book myself,f will always be marked as such.

Full Disclosure:

In each of these posts, I include an Amazon link, if you would like to purchase the book. I am an Amazon affiliate, so would receive a small percentage if you choose to do so.
